I am a freelance writer, editor and proofreader using The Word Diver as an alias for no apparent reason.
Having lived in Manchester, Washington DC and Hong Kong over the last decade, I have now settled in Lancaster where I write in my summerhouse when it’s not too cold.
Most of this blog covers time spent living on the island of Cheung Chau, 35-50 minutes from Hong Kong by ferry; a place where cars are unheard of and the bicycle is king.
Life on Cheung Chau helped inspire my latest novel, The Islands of Hong Kong, which has been announced as a semi-finalist in the Proverse International Prize for 2018.
Over the last year I have been travelling regularly to South America, following a life-changing trip to the Hay Cartagena Festival in Colombia last January.
