You know when you try to imagine the world without you and get annoyed when you realise everything will probably just carry on as usual, despite your departure? That’s a little how I feel every time I leave Hong Kong, especially when it means missing events like Cosmic Chauffers’ night of literate pop and original spoken word at Orange Peel on Saturday 8 August.
This is the second time Hong Kong bands, writers and performers have come together in a self-styled ‘eclectoclash’ following a successful inaugural night in May at the same atmospheric venue. Here’s August’s line-up in full:
Music
Logo – dark lyrics underscored by spatial sonics
Little Power – guitar driven exotica
Sushi robot – electronic dance with post tech visuals
Spoken word
Blair Reeve – an amazing oral contortionist importing the concept of oral bebop
Bhavini Raval – actress, voice artist and performer
Rama Kulkarni and Nerida Ari – who will perform a duel poem
This is a night packed with explosive artistic firepower, which needs none of my hyperbole to sell it.
I urge you go along and check out the talent, safe in the knowledge that I will back in the UK making sure things are carrying on as usual without me over there. Happy holidays!
